Wednesday,
Depart Chicago O'Hare or New York JFK for Turkey. All meals
and overnight in flight.
Thursday,
Arrive at Istanbul Ataturk airport. Transfer to hotel.
Friday,
After breakfast visit the Hagia Sophia Church, the 6th century
Byzantine basilica, the largest church of its era and the
architectural glory of the Byzantines; the Blue Mosque, 17th
century Imperial mosque famous for its six minarets as well
as its interior blue tiles; the Byzantine Hippodrome now an
open air exhibition park with a number of monuments where
chariot races were once held. After lunch continue the visits
with the Topkapi Palace, great residence of the Ottoman Sultans
between the 15th and 19th centuries, now a world famous museum
where imperial robes, crystals, silvers, jewelry, and porcelains
are in display; and the Grand Bazaar, world's largest covered
market with more than 4000 shops and multitide of alleys.
In the evening transfer to the airport for a domestic flight
to Izmir. Arrive at Adnan Menderes airport, transfer to hotel
in Izmir.
Saturday,
After breakfast at the hotel drive to Selcuk, to visit the
world-famous Antique City of Ephesus, including the Marble
Street (Arcadian Way) the Antique Theater, the Roman Baths,
and the Celcus Library. Light lunch in Selcuk. In the afternoon
a visit to the Shrine of the Virgin Mary, where she lived
her last years. Return to Izmir for free time and overnight.
Sunday,
After breakfast departure for Pergamum to visit the Asklepium
Sanctuary and the Acropolis including the Altar of Zeus, which
is said to be "the place where Satan has his throne;"
the Trojan Temple and the world's steepest antique-theater.
Lunch is included. Return to Izmir. Transfer to airport for
flight to Tel Aviv. On arrival, transfer to the Hotel BLAU-WEISS
in Netanya.
Monday,
Day at leisure in Netanya, stroll along the Sea Promenade
or along the main streets full of life.
In the evening, meet the main group arriving today from the
U.S. Overnight in Netanya.
