. . .To Elementary Students
Dear Kevin
Your ministry to our students a couple of weeks ago was very
meaningful. Several comments of appreciation have been expressed.
In fact in our Board meeting last night, a father spoke of
the value of your ministry to his third grade son. Thank you
Kevin, for the investment of your time and energies with our
kids. Only eternity will reveal the total impact of your life
and witness to our kids.
- David V. Bates, Administrator, Christian
Elementary School, Rockford, IL.
. . . To Christian Junior And Senior High Students:
Dear Kevin,
Thank you for your recent ministry to the junior highers
of Columbia, Missouri. I speak on behalf of three churches
who participated in the weekend retreat when I express my
appreciation for your instruction on the destructive influences
of New Age philosophies and Occultism in America. Your presentations
were effective because they included facts and examples of
Satan's lies compared to God's truth. I will recommend you
to other youth workers in the future.
- Steve Fischer, Evangelical Free Church,
Columbia, MO.
. . .To Christian Students In Church Settings:
We would like to thank you so very much for being a part
of College crew this summer. We set records in attendance...the
challenging topics also caused much spiritual growth in many
students.
- College Crew Steering Committee, First
Evangelical Free Church, Rockford, Illinois
. . . To Christians At College Chapels:
Thank you so much for being with us last Friday. Several
of the students mentioned to me how much they appreciated
what you had to say regarding the New Age Movement...God bless
you in your ministry.
- Dr. Paul J. Satre, Judson College,
Elgin, IL
Rev. Johnson was asked to speak at
Moody Bible Institute To Start The Apologetics Course in January
of 1998...
Thanks again for a great class (and chapel!). Enclosed is
the honorarium for the class. Both the class and the the chapel
set a strong foundation for pologetics themes which we will
explore more deeply over the course of the semester. You were
challenging;heartsy; fresh and anecdotal! Students appreciated
the challenge to take a stand on issues. I appreciated the
insights from Acts 17. We had good critique/feedback from
the students in the class on Thursday. Dr. Lutzer will be
in class (and chapel) with us tomorrow. God's richest ongoing
blessing on your life and ministry Kevin! Cordially, Dr. John
Fueder
. . . To Non-Christians On University Campus:
Recently, we were privileged to have Kevin Johnson, Director
of Mount Carmel Outreach, share in a very unique dorm setting
here in Urbana at the University of Illinois. We were asked
by a Resident Advisor of one of our largest dorms to share
with students on his floor a Christian perspective of cults.
What a wonderful opportunity this was for us, as a Christian
church, to make a presentation in a secular setting...We invited
Kevin Johnson, and he did an absolutely superb job. Not only
did he stick with the subject material, and cover what was
requested, but he did it in such a fashion that it provoked
interesting questions and feedback among the students at the
end of his presentation. The most thrilling thing to me was
how he so smoothly presented the gospel. It was done in such
a way, in that secular intellectual setting, that it caused
me to be grateful for this gifted brother.
- Rev. Gary Grogan, Pastor, Urbana Assembly
of God (Former Illinois District Assemblies of God State Youth
and College Director)
. . . To University Students On The Campus Of Our
Mission Headquarters Of Apple Canyon Christian Center:
Dear Kevin and Family,
I wanted to thank you on behalf of leadership (of Bradley
University's Christian Group "SHOC" -Students High
On Christ) for letting us come into your home. Everyone had
a wonderful time and your hospitality was great. Kevin and
Julie, your family is a very loving and caring one. God's
presence was truly evident when we stayed in your home. Kevin,
your words of wisdom and the Gospel were inspiring. God works
in you through all that you do. He has generously gifted you
as a teacher. Keep doing His work! Also, I love your personal
library. Julie, all I have to say is you're a fantastic cook.
This is definitely a gift from God! Thank you for your warmth
and love. Also, I would have to say after talking with and
getting to know you over the weekend, you are very well fitted
and described in Proverbs 31. Once again, thank you for welcoming
twenty college students into your home. We had an awesome
visit and appreciate your generosity! I will try to get back
to Stockton before school gets out. May God bless all of you
and take care. In Christ's love, -Kim Sommers, A Leader of
SHOC
Two weeks after the retreat we were
joined by a Rabbi's daughter one year old in the Lord, A science
student two years old in the Lord and raised in Jesuit schools,
and an agnostic engineering student who wrote us a week later......
Hi, Ken here from Bradley. I wanted to thank you again for
the weekend we were able to spend with you and all the time
we had to talk and learn. But especially, I wanted to thank
you for being a catalyst for me. For a long while, I had wrestled
with religion and matters of faith. As a science-minded person,
I always said I pursued the truth. But I was very hypocritical
in that I used science as an excuse to not see the truth -
to not accept God. Our discussion reminded me of things I
KNEW but had pushed out of my mind for my own convenience....
That night that I was at your house, I chose to ask Him into
my life, to use me, to mould me. After 19 years of being an
agnostic, I had just accepted something on faith, and I was
very humbled and timid. I had lost all my familiar footings.
That is why I didn't tell anyone, not even Dave or Deb about
my choice. But I did tell all of my friends when I returned
here. In any case, I know that you were praying for me, and
I just wanted to let you know that your prayers, along with
many others' were answered, and you have a new brother in
Christ. Thank you again for being there, and I hope to see
you again before too long. In only a few short days, I've
learned quite a bit, but I have so much farther to go. I have
a lot of help and assistance here, and I'm looking forward
to continually getting to know Him more. So, I'll close now
and I look forward to the next time we meet. May God continue
to bless you and your family as I know He has already. Sincerely,
-Ken
